Remembering February 11th assasination attempt

This is the day to remember the tragedy on February, 11th, 2008. Two top leaders of Timor-Leste, President and Prime Minister were about to be assasined by a group of rebel soldiers led by former Timorese Military Police commander, Alfredo Reinado.
Luckily, they both survived. Prime Minister, Xanana Gusmao escape the ambush while president got shot in the stomach. He was taken to the Australian army medical center in Dili before then evacuated to Darwin Hospital for further treatment.
That was about 7am I went to ICFJ, my workplace, as usual. As I got there, I got told by my director about the incident which I didn't believe at the time, but I had to convince myself to believe it.
Few hours later, government announced the state of siege. Everyone should stay at home so I went back home.
This incident has been a lesson for me that involving myself in political life could put my life in danger.
Hope, no more bloodshed in Timor-Leste from now on as it is confirmed with government motto right now, "Adeus konflitu, benvindu dezenvolvimento" or "Good bye conflict, welcome development". We hope!
